Competition

Competition experiments cover common scenarios, in which congestion control algorithms (CCAs) compete for resources against each other. These experiments include inter-protocol competition scenarios, where flows use at least two different CCAs in the same experiment. The competition experiments focus on:

  • Competition with static conditions against Cubic, NewReno, or Vegas. These three CCAs are either commonly used in the Internet today (Cubic) or legacy algorithms widely known in science (NewReno, Vegas).

  • Competition with dynamic conditions, which are caused by competing UDP flows or a changing number of competing flows over an experiment.
